Dance, Girl! Unplugged

Dance, Girl! A testament to black girlhood is a choreopoem by Bria B Saulsberry, produced by Homegrown Arts. This magnetic story explores the journey of a black girl discovering the dance of adolescent learning—remembering what has been taught, forgetting what has been passed down, and becoming who is needed. The experience combines poetry, dance, and music, celebrating the tradition of dance.

This UNPLUGGED version of Dance, Girl! features song and dance by two Memphis artists, beloved throughout the city and beyond. Keia and Angel have added a new element of experience to Bria Saulsberry’s spoken word.

Angelina “Angel Ceara” Clark is a native Memphian. She is a movement artist, actor, choreographer, creative director, and educator. She received her Dance/Movement Therapy and Performing Arts Degree from The University of Memphis. Afforded opportunities to work alongside and assist artists in theatre and film, such as Principal Dancer, Hope Boykin (Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre), Broadway Director and Choreographer, Patdro Harris, and Executive Producer, Princeton James (Princeton James Productions). Her mission is to use her skills, as a multi-disciplinary artist, to continue collaborating and creating spaces for black stories to be told while also bringing healing to self and others through her organization Earth Angel’s MVMNT LLC.

Keia Johnson @kjmanagement IG

With over a decade of experience in the Entertainment field; Keia has made a name for herself as the multifaceted Artist that attacks each opportunity with gusto and her signature smile. Known for her bigger than life laugh and sultry voice Keia is no stranger to the Entertainment business. Officially starting her singing career after returning from American Idol, she has made local headlines and National ones alike.
